These are pictures of the neck joint of my "new" second-hand Tokai ES-130 from 2008.
Are these normal manufacturing traces or is there something wrong with this connection and are we dealing here with a small repair / camouflage?
Just curious

Really hard to tell from the 2D pics - that looks like patches of finish have lifted off the wood (or rather the wood shrunk a bit underneath the poly coat, leaving "air pockets" instead of cracking the finish).

Could be filler but if the coat lifts off the wood it looks that grey-ish/milky too. Just to make sure you understood my theory, the neck joint/heel are where nitro finished set-neck guitars in general and 335s in particular develop finish cracks due to wood pieces "working" differently. Poly finish is too sturdy to be torn apart by that and rather departs from the wood in entire patches. That's why the surface is still smooth. However I could be wrong of course.

If this would be a repair job, it would've been a pretty bad one and I guess the necessary refinish wouldn't look much better then. :)
