looking like either a Chinese or Korean. there should be a label under the clear coat stating country of origin, some Korean ones didn't have ser #'s

Get a used cheap Tokai from Japan through Jauce or Rinkya. Even with my dollar at .70 cents U.S. duty + shipping i can still get a nice MIJ Tokai for around the price of an Chinese Epiphone here. I'm not sure if the same would hold true for where you are from. Results vary. I've got this little number a while ago.

In my eyes, it makes no sense to buy a Tokai that isn't :
1) made in Japan
2) of good quality
It's like going for a Jaguar made by Tata, with Lada parts in a Check Republic factory.... makes no sense watsoever.
Tokai Premiums are quite affordable on the used market. Count around 1'400 to 1'900 $ to get one. I would go for them. No, not the vintage ones, the premium ones. With those, you are in safe harbour and will not change or aspire to a "better" guitar all 5 years. Because there is no better guitar to buy.
