Hi folks,

I'm looking for a used Tokai tele and found this one on Ebay:

Regarding the pictures, do you think it's a japanese one ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

My gut feeling is 'not'.
Reasoning being, that in my experience, the Japanese builds are anally accurate vintage reissues... and that isn't that accurate.
Two giveaways.
The neck pickup mounted to the scratchplate. Fender didn't start doing that until some time during the '80s/90s, by whixh time they were fitting 22 fret necks and six saddle bridges with no sides n the base.
The other thing is the plastic 'thingy' between the neck plate and body.

Third thing, is the truss adjustment being at the wrong end of the neck for a vintage reissue...

I'm sure it's a great guitar, but I doubt it's Japanese.

The 'CE' mark... maybe the location of the sticker is an indication, but a 'CE' mark just tells you that it's an official 'made for the EU' product... from everywhere in the world.

The significance is that as of yet they do not appear on Japanese made Tokais. Well not from my experience so far but stand to be corrected.

They appear on EVERYTHING that is legitimately imported in to the EU. You won't see them on EVERYTHING that wasn't originally intended for export to the EU... and of course, they do come off, so you don't tend to find them on used instruments, so often, simply because people peel them off.

The CE mark doesn't have to be on the guitar itself, it can be included in the docs etc and not on the instrument. So for now Chinese put them on the guitar and Japan seems not to do so.
