Hi. I've had this guitar for a while now (LS65?) - but never liked the Seymour Duncan pickups.

I finally managed to track down a pair of LoveRock MIJ pickups, and intend to swap them back in asap. One question I do have, is whether the colour coding of the wires on the original Tokai pups is similar to that on the Seymour Duncans, or whether the wires - although the same colours - need to be connected differently ?

I did find a decent info chart advising on how different manufacturers colour-code the pup connections - but haven't been able to find any info on the Tokai ones:

https://www.seymourduncan.com/blog/the-tone-garage/humbucker-wire-color-translation

edit - alternatively, can anybody point me towards a wiring diagram for the standard LoveRock setup c. 2002 ?

Any help much appreciated,

Thanks,
Alan

4 wire or 2? what colours do you have?
you may want to re post this in this section http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewforum.php?f=1

a simple search reveals https://www.google.co.uk/search?newwindow=1&q=tokai+pickup+wiring+diagram&tbm=isch&source=hp&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjl-Yqsm_zhAhXGQhUIHfo4AbcQsAR6BAgSEAE&biw=1920&bih=931#imgrc=ewbZPJ3YLSMTwM:

Yeah sorry about the wrong forum - I though I had posted it in the Guitars section, my apologies. If the mods can move it, I'd appreciate it.

I did some searching on the web thanks - but found as is the case with the link you posted that despite the headings, those sites listed aren't actually for Tokai, and most of them seem to require sign-up to a subscription service to access. If you've had better luck than me, Id be delighted if you'd point me in the right direction

The pups are unlabelled, but appear to be late model Keihos - with 4 way + earth wiring - green, red, black, white.

In the meantime - I have actually managed to decode the colour coding on the pups with a multi-meter, and can access the generic Seymour Duncan wiring diagram for a 2 Humbucker/2vol/2tone/1 toggle switch setup.

Wouldn't mind a look at a standard Tokai wiring diagram just in case there are any subtle differences, so I can put if back to full factory spec.

at least you are getting somewhere
try http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=68515 think that's mostly for 2 wire though! If you have the lead out now, use the Seymour Duncan diagram to configure it.
