Hello everyone,

I've been offered a Breezysound in a trade (for my Orange Rocker 30). Initially I thought it was a quite appealing offer, since Tokai guitars seem to have a very good reputation.

Now the guy who is offering it, sais the previous owner threw away the original neck plate and bridge, and with it the serial number... Sounds a bit dodgy, so I'm in doubt about the deal, although the current owner seems legit.

The previous owner apparently told him it was a BreezySound made in Japan in 1984 or 1985. But I can't find one with this finish in any of the catalogues...

Does anybody have a clue whether or not this is a MIJ of 1984-1985 and which model exactly? Or advice why (not) to make this trade?

Impossible to tell if this is even a real Tokai from these 4 photos....
So my advice would be, stay away from the deal until getting more detailed pictures from the seller or inspecting the guitar in person.

There should be production code stamps in the control cavity, in the neck or bridge pickup route and on the heel of the neck. Ask for pictures of those.
Tokai´s 80s Breezysound electronics (if still original) are also pretty easy to identify. (1 MΩ pots & treble bleed capacitory)
Original Pickups would be stamped TEB or TEA underneath depending on model.

Tuners & string trees are definately not Tokai. Probably just replaced.
But just from the logo on the headstock you can´t tell anything for sure.
So be cautious.

He can't find any stamps, so he believes he has been deceived by the previous owner. Anyway, I won't go into this deal.

Thanks a lot for the information and advice!
