Hi,

Just bought a Tokai.

Here's what I know -
1) It's at least 15 years old.
2) The headstock has had the logo and serial numbers removed (fake Gibson in it's day)
3) PCB in the control cavity
4) Tokai 'PAF 57' in black/gold stickers on the pickups.
5) Definate thick maple cap - it's half an inch thick in places
6) Not sure if it's gloss but think it is
7) Not sure if it's veneer or flamed cap.
8) Has the Gibson exact-copy book style headstock, not the later one.

this could be faked, as it was rebadged as a Gibson for many years.

Could be anything from LS50 upwards from those pictures. By 1984 Tokai specs went out the window on many guitars so it's even more difficult.

Unless it's been refretted it's a 50 model, there's no FEB...

Hi guys,
Well that top is definately veneer. No mistake.
It looks like a TLS-60 however TLS-60's in 1984 didn't have veneer tops . . .
so try this . . .
1) remove the front pickup and take a photo of the side of the pickup cavity (facing the pickguard) and one of the back of the cavity (facing the bridge)
2) check the headstock angle. if not sure take a side-on pic also
3) check the hardware - Chrome or Nickel
4) Post these photos and I may be able to tell you which Model it is.
