white and cream zebra eg500 pickups

Post by dombat » Mon Jul 16, 2018 11:10 am

I've just received a 1980 EG500

The pickups are supposed to be U1000 and have ceramic magnets (my super 70 ones are all alnico). They look stock, solderings untouched
Maxon code 200311

But the weird is the zebra: white an cream. I've never seen these bobbin colors mixed before.

Never seen a white and cream humbucker myself. Of course i've never seen a white and cream zebra either. Very interesting. Do you think one side faded to cream or started like that ?? The pickup rings are exactly the same shade of cream

The rings are not the originals which were broken, but these new ones are the same exact color.

I think that the bobbins colors are the original colors, they are uniform all around.

I had to polish them a little as they were dirty: no color change
