Hey Hans-Jurgen,

Thanks for posting that link!

Just to clarify on the "Cream sounding more dated than Hendrix" thing. When I said that I was referring to a number of the songs themselves NOT the musicicianship/playing of Cream's members. I think Eric, Jack and Ginger were fan-friggin'-tastic!

But you have to admit some of the Cream's "album tracks" sound as cheesy as the stuff that came out of San Francisco in the late 60's. :)

You're welcome, I think by now he has the Winterland '68 bootleg up.

I understand what you mean, but I think it's from our perspective on these records nearly 40 years later. Back then a lot of stuff seemed to have happened in a fairly short period of time, e.g. just yesterday I saw a video on TV with Ten Years After from 1969 playing "Good Mornin' Little School Girl", and they sounded a lot like Cream. And those "Hippie" songs from Cream probably sounded fresh to the public in 1966 and 1967. Here's a nice review from Rogers Waters seeing Cream and Hendrix on the same stage in England:

I've just successfully downloaded "Sunshine of your love" from May 5, 2005, i.e. the third show in the Royal Albert Hall which many consider to be the best one of the four concerts. The file format is MP3 in 256 kbps, so "Sunshine" was around 14 MB.

It seems the opinions vary: one poster knows it's the Cornell, the next knows it's the Fender...
A quote from the official Cream 2005 site: http://www.cream2005.com/thereunion.lasso

"At The Royal Albert Hall Concerts, Eric used:

Black Fender Strat with noiseless pickups and a maple neck (another black Strat with Lace Sensor pickups).

Jim Dunlop strap locks.

Fender '57 tweed Twin amp, in a stack, with a spare on top (only used on “Sunshine Of Your Love”) and a Leslie speaker.

The Leslie had a separate preamp, used to balance out tone and volumes with the amp when used together.

He also had a Dunlop wah-wah pedal in line.

His wireless system was the Samson Synth 6 system, with packs powered by 2 AA batteries. This ran to the input of his foot-switching unit through a Zaola cable from the cannon out on the Samson.

His guitar straps were by Ernie Ball, as were his picks and his strings (''Slinkys'' 10 13 17 26 36 46 gauges).

Guitar stands by Tama.

This information was graciously provided by Eric's guitar technician Lee Dickson."

I wanted to go to these shows, had a buddy in the UK try and get tickets.
Can't wait for the DVD.
Seems the DVD came out today, and they will also do a few concerts at Madison Square Garden this month. 8)
