The guys says this is a LS80. I was thinking about buying this guitar for a few minutes then I got over it and am looking for something else. The guitar looks like a 1985 as per the SN 5030228. I thought guitars of this time had FEB if it was a LS80 and up? Is there some other rule to FEB? I would like to know the FEB rule as I see at lot of guys trying to pass off LS80's and so that are actually LS50s. |

But that's definitely a MIJ guitar. Aren't all the fakes MIK and MIC? Looks legit to me, but I don't have much experience with the older stuff.
The FEB idea was a special sub-series. It wasn't really part of the main line and wasn't a premium feature. It certainly wasn't around in 1985, it only ran for a couple of years much more recently. |

DOH! I was thinking of SEB!
Could it have had a refret? Is there a model number stamped at the bottom of the fretboard? Markings under the pickups?
Fred edge binding is overrated IMO. I'd rather play on metal than risk getting my high e trapped in a bit of plastic. Or pay a fortune for refrets. |

I bought one on ebay last night. It was actually listed here in the classified section.

I was just asking about the FEB as from what I saw it looked like a way to distinguish Lower end models LS 50 LS60 from higher end models LS80 and above. Seriously I could care about the actual FEB I just thought it was a way to pick out people lying about their LS50's saying that they are LS80 and so no.
An yes the guitar could be a re-fret but it is too clean to have needed a re-fret in my opinion. That is a reason I think this guy is lying and is actually a 50 or 60. But I could be wrong about when FEB stopped that is why I made this post. Either way I bought one last night so it does not really matter now. Maybe I will buy another one in the future maybe not. I have 3 LS Tokais now so who knows. |
