Hello all!
This is my first topic here?I hope I can join the tokai community soon!!

I?m intersted in buying a strat tokai.
The seller says that it has a ?U shape neck?
In the headstock you can see that is written ?goldstar sound? ?oldies but goldies? and something else I am not able to read by the pics.
The serial number in the neckplate is 19894
The seller says that the colour is not a real fiesta red, but something like pink.

I will try to upload the pics I have (i hope i will find the way!!)

Can someone of you check if it is a real 1985 goldstar as the seller said?

Thank you in advance,

Have a nice day!!

Do you have any shots of whats under the hood ?? I think with that serial number configuration and those final prospect saddles it narrows down what it probably is. I believe they started with your headstock script in '84 and Tokai did have pink as a colour, the code colour PK. I'm not much of a goldy expert, sorry.

BTW Welcome to the forum !!

Thank you for your answers!!
What do you exactly mean with "headstock plug"?
I m sorry...i don t undrstand..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh2mdEDGvRU&index=13&list=UUWB0nXytBCd4kQ7CV9n1eJg Here is one. The headstock plug is the plug that seals the rout where the truss rod was inserted. It is the small pointed dark oval shape just above the nut on the front of the head of this guitar. The serial number denotes an 85 goldie. This one is an ST55 in pearl pink.

Thanks you all again for your replies!
So bluejeannot,do you agree with suki that
it could be something strange with the Headstock
plug (thanks for the description) or do u think
this could be a real 85 goldstar?
Unfortunately i don t hace any pics that could show what is hidden
At the very end of the neck..

I love that video!!
Anyway, the guitar is the one you can see in this site

http://www.tibiuccio.it/tokaiGSst55.htm

in fact the headstock plug seems a luttle bit longer than the other else (i saw some
fender mim that have that shape) but otherwise the "tuning mechanics" looking as
other 85 goldstar i can see on the web..

so...no such info to understand is that original or not?

You need to see the end of the neck stamp( butt of the neck, requires neck removal) and you need to check that the body and neck codes match( you will find the body code under the pickguard). Also you need to see under the pickguard to ascertain the type of pickups. They should be stamped V1 on a guitar of this year. Then you can be absolutely certain, not before. How much is the seller asking?

On the headstock plug question, I have checked and I actually have an ST-40 which has the slightly elongated and darker plug - this one checks out to be kosher.

Thank you all!!
i hope i ll able to post some other pics soon...

stay tuned!!!
:D

Finally..i got it!!
:D
Didn t see the codes on the bottom of the neck....but when i saw her,
And when i tried her..i like it so much!!
i ll post some picture in the next days!
Thank you all again!!

just the first pics of the guitar...
