I am interested in a new Tokai SG, but am having difficulty finding one in the south east of England. However can anyone tell me whether these new instrumants are manufactured in Japan or Korea?

They are made in both Japan and Korea, I have one of each , both are replicas of the 61-62' standard. Minor differances between them...Right now I prefer the Korean one for it's clarity. The scarf joint is at the 3rd fret on the Korean ,came with a black toggle wich I changed ,and the smaller headstock, no s/n, and the pick gaurd screws were black so I polished them and removed the paint and now they look like twins. I bought the Korean from Mike's music last year, the Japanese on I bought in japan back in 86'

Hi Bob

Heres the list of UK stockists:

http://www.tokai-guitars.co.uk/Tokai_dealers.html

As you'll see there's not much in the South East. Theres only Rokas in Denmark Street in London ( http://www.rokas.co.uk ) - they definitly had an SG in there a few months ago.
But don't dispair as I'm sure the list isn't up to date, because Andy's ( http://www.andysguitarnet.com ) in the same street has them too. I'm sure either could order one in for you if its not in stock.

Cheers

James

Ooops, those shop links seem to be a bit flakey. If they don't work for you, theres a full listing of all the shops in Denmark Street (aka Tin Pan Alley) here:
