I'm looking at buying an Orville 335 with serial # J683125. Can anyone tell me where and what year it was made? Any pitfalls to watch for?

Read this for dating and where it was made:

I own a 95 Fujigen-built Orville goldtop LPS that I love and have been looking for a 335 to go w/it. Any real differences between Terada and Fujigen guitars?

The Orville serial numbers at http://www.guitarsjapan.com/orvillegibsoninfopage.html are all over the place.

The J serial numbers were not used until the OBG's finished in 1995 and therefore no more Terada OBG G letter serials, so the J serial numbers are only on Orvilles from 1995-1998 and the J serial numbers were also on early Epiphone Japan guitars as well.

The J letter was used by Terada when the model line just went to Orvilles in 1995, so the serial in the first post is a 1996 Terada made Orville if the first number after the J is a 6.

Thanks japanstrat. Good info is hard to come by. The guitar in question was very clean, but a little too rich for me @ $1400. I'm still looking for a 335 - ObG or Orville - and time is on my side.
