Hi, anybody can tell me more about Orville by gibson acoustic guitars? Are good as the Les Paul copy?
Are all solid woods? Nitro????
Anybody have played one?
I really like the J-45 and sj-200 style...

Thanks a lot

Hi, I tried a Orville by Gibson J-45 and loath to say it
was disappointed, extremely well built, looked and felt like a 50's
J-45. It did have nitro finish, the back and sides were laminanted.
the top was supposedly solid but on very close inspection had a very very
thin veneer over solid wood probaly for cometic reasons.
Just a dead sounding acoustic.
Also the pick ups are dated compared to todays
piezos and mics etc. Pity was hoping to find a great MIJ acoustic, as the
Orville electrics are excellent guitars.

Just my experience,
the orville J-200 may be better.

I've got an Orville by Gibson J-45 and I love it. Great feeling guitar and the sound is very full and alive. I've got an LR Baggs Element Active in it and it sounds excellent plugged in. I'm not sure of the specs on it, I would suppose it has a solid top but I'm not sure about the sides and back. I would also think it has a nitro finish but I can't guarantee it. I suppose like most acoustics some are lemons and others are great even within the same model. Mine appears to be a keeper. :D

Yeah just goes to show you, buying an acoustic unseen/played is madness
I learned my lesson the hard way. Thankfully I found a mint HD-28 locally
which is going to the grave with me. :D
