So a 1990 K series Orville could not have an ebony board, correct?

Also, K series would only be poly finishes as well, right?

I have no need whatsoever to spend Gibson $ just get cure my desire for a BB style lester so these Orville's seem like the best lower cost route to get the most accurate (inlay, headstock, ebony board) MIJ LPC.

I don't think a K Orville would have a ebony fingerboard but there might be some because Terada can do unexpected things, but they would be rare if they exist.

Same for the K Orvilles being mostly poly.

Lower priced guitars like the 75,000 Yen K Orvilles are always going to have minimum features and poly is cheaper to do because it takes more time to do a nitro finish and time/labour means money/wages.

The Fujigen Orvilles with a ebony fingerboard come from a time when there were only Orvilles (OBG's finish in 1995) so Yamano were offering Orvilles with more features to try to sell more Orvilles and they cost an extra 10,000 Yen for the ebony fingerboard (75,000 Yen without ebony, 85,000 with ebony).

I know it's just about impossible but I sure could be fooled into thinking this was ebony.

Nah, that's deffo rosewood. Too brown for ebony.

Here's an ebony board:

Trust me when I say the search would end with this one.
Solid mahogany body (no maple cap), and beautiful ebony fb.
Not quite Gibson money, but FAR beyond Gibson tone! See my
thread in the classified section if you're interested.

Cheers! :D

You could also look for a 98-00 Epiphone LPC90 (not 80), made by FujiGen/Orville.

Here's my little customs collection:
Edwards, Epoiphone LPC90, ObG 57RI and a 76 Gibson

The neck of the Epi is close to the ObG (fat, fatter than the average Orville neck). Frets are medium to jumbo, long tenon of course. Both are full mahogany (body + top).
