collect - how? Is this in Europe? If there's an adress here there'll be a whole office of lawyers on the doorstep by monday ....

OK, it's a chinese site. That's impressive - looks westen until you start to read the language in the small print ... eg the "supposes for homepage" button at the bottom.

Think I'll settle for for the French tag for us Brits as "Les Ros Beef' before some gets in with something worse.

slant eyes?...better not use that if you ever come to Japan...you may see the inside of a hospital.

and ScottA sorry.

I aggree and I apologize me deeply.

I was upset about these Chinese faking industry.

I'll as well edit my my start posting

I am not japanese...but my wife is. I just know they wouldn`t like but you did say sorry and thats good enough for me.

Togps,

Why so upset about the Chinese fakes? Anyone who owns a late 70s lawsuit guitar from Japan has a fake proven guilty of fakery in court. I'm sure that most people who buy the Chinese fakes know exactly what they're getting (OK, not everyone)

The link you posted has a "strat" at $175 (inc delivery). That's cheap for any guitar and, yes, most likely it's pants. But so was the 3/4 size $175 real european-made guitar I bought for my son a few months ago. Impossible to keep in tune and with a neck that had a mind of it's own.

At least the Chinese guitars make me smile. :D

I don't agree 100%. If a musician purchase this fake in China ! he'll probably know about it.

But people who are not so familiar with Gibson. They'll buy it at Ebay as a Gibson. This is the point.

I'm sure some people make that mistake ... but surely anyone buying a new Gibson knows roughly what they cost and that anything from China costing $200 instead of $2000 is likely to be a fake ... along with nearly everythiing else on those sites from the Nike trainers to Jade necklaces.

Now, here's a thought. Over the years a percentage of goods like this have been deliberate production-line overuns knocked out the back-door by the factory owners. Don't Epiphone manufacture in China?

Me? Well, I've always fancied a fake Rolex. (only sort I can afford).

This is pretty funny as most of you here make a living selling gibson fakes to the americans. Or perhaps in your world Les Paul is Japanese.

I may buy the Kramer 5150 copy for $185.00 just for a wall hanger. 8)

The Chinese market is a good thing the way I see it. They will force other manufactures to a more reasonable pricing system.

well, Leo Fender sold his company so were Fenders fakes after that? Or are only American guitars genuine?

Or were G&L the only true "Fender" guitars made after 1965?

You gotta give Gibson credit for not diluting their brand by pasting their name on guitars coming out of factories-for-hire in Japan and Korea and who knows where. Epiphones and Orvilles kept the Gibson name in much smaller fonts!

I'm glad at least that Fender does indicate on the guitars where they are made. There are enough other brands that don't want to tell you where the things were made.

Has anyone actually seen one of these gibson fakes. it would be interesting to see what they are like

I kind of agree with togps on this one, there is a difference between a copy and a fake, at least in the context of this discussion.

the japanese have been copying some western designs for a long time, look at the motor industry, they copy it improve it and most importantly put their name on it.

The Gibsons from China.... well.... id love to see one.....

Amazing what they can do with plywood these days.....
indeed, I recently aquired a guitar unseen and it seems to have plywood down the centre, and some sort of moulded plastic with a flame graphic on it. I got it for chips so it is no big deal, though if I were to get one of these gibson fakes I wouldn't want it to be like that. I am going to china so I think I am gonna wait until then to get my hands on one of these.
