I wonder how many members watched the recent Ebay auction of a totally trashed '80's Tokai Goldtop (the auction number was 7328857187 - sorry, I don't know how to do all that paste/copy/link stuff). This thing was so far gone - all the frets were missing, switchtip, electronics gone, finish destroyed, and every bit of metal on it was totally rusted as if it had been submerged in water for a very long period. I was going to bid on it just for the rosewood fretboard, but it took off and got 39 bids ending at $455! Holy Crap!

Also recently, a set of '80's Tokai PAF 57's went for higher than I was willing to pay (something like $80 if I remember correctly), but what I really wanted to bid on were a series of original Tokai catalogues 1981-1985. I was going to go $25 on the '84 issue, because that's the year my Love Rock is, plus it also included the dealer's wholesale and retail price list! That ended up around $55, and I hope a member here got it. Seems there is definitely a demand for Tokai items, and I can't wait till I round up a little more disposable income to see what I can score.

Yes, this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7328857187 .

I did see it but didn?t take much notice, because as you say it looks wrecked ? also has white control covers & no serial number which may mean it?s not even Japanese (or not even a Tokai). There?s a guy in UK unloading lots of old guitar catalogues inc. some Tokai Cat?s but doesn?t give dates eg http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2384&item=7332238059&rd=1 . Major reason for rising prices must be this forum ? more we talk about Tokai, the more interest/demand it creates.

Novosel, forgive me if you know this, but - to include a link from any eBay advert (or a link from anywhere), just highlight the stuff in the address bar at top of screen ie stuff beginning http://?, then just drop down the Edit menu (top left of screen) & click Cut ? then compose your message/post on Tokai forum as usual (or any forum, or email or whatever), then drop down Edit menu again and click Paste :-? .

:D I like it, lotsa "mojo" (term in all humbleness borrowed from the Les Paul Forum) if you ask me, especially these tuners and the stickers on the back...

Novesel, that trashed guitar looked like a late model Korean. Look at the tunematic posts, headstock and neck.

Yeah, I thought it might be Korean because of the white control cavity covers. Whoever bought that, I'm sorry to say, got burned big time. I think it's one that fell off the boat on the way over.
