Dreamers not the Word

Post by Freddy 17 » Sun Apr 18, 2004 3:05 pm

He's added zero by mistake. It should read ?95 not ?950. Who's going to pay almost a grand for a copy, when you can the real thing these days for ?900......what a dipstick.

Hmm, bit like walking into a skinhead bar with the wrong team shirt there m8...

If by 'real thing' you're referring to the gibson faded or studio lines, I feel that the tokai equivalents are superior in all but name, though the gibson standards are still better overall. The tokai LS200 and LS320 easily defeat the standards and the people who've played/owned both say they are worthy of comparison to the historic series. Put simply, tokai offer more les paul for the money.

In reference to the guitar on ebay, it's an LS80F (a ?750 guitar on its own) with upgraded and aged hardware and an aged nitro finish. They sell for ?1200 new. I don't think that's a bad deal. How much would a Murphy-aged Gibson set you back these days? The seller is pushing it a bit with his current asking price though.

Oh, and who'd pay almost a grand for a copy? I paid more... :o

Post by ochay » Thu Apr 22, 2004 10:42 am

Looks like Freddy has never really owned a LS100 or LS120????-These Guitars are KILLER-Demarzio P-ups and Craftsmanship that just spanks Gibson-Go ahead Freddy, get you a Gibber Les Paul there MILLIONS of um out there-Let's see ya find a Flametop 1980-81 Reborn "Old" or early Love Rock LS120-Good luck Bucko !!

I just love it when rookies dog Tokai-What's the big deal-Hold one in your hands, Love it Stroke it- You'll know then-and your sniveling will cease-
Just lovin every minute of it !!

Remember this Freddy. Tokai were copying old sunburst Les Pauls before Gibson started copying themselves... :o .

Err, I'm sure you regulars know what I mean.

Freddie's right with it. I wouldn't pay more than 500 Euro for it. there's a certain truth about these special 80/81 tokai's...and I don't mean the ageing thing! just take a close look :o

nevertheless a guitar is worth what you pay for. tokai or gibbos. I still haven't found or played any Les Paul that sounded better than this one. And I could have had a 58RI instead

I've had 3 '58 historics and 2 '59 Historics-None of them has anything over my 81 Loverock LS120's. These Demarzios-RULE- Gibson can only TRY and emulate the sound of these pickups!! The Flametops are just as good on the '81s as the Historics-Get that ???

Guitar Village in Farnham has one for ?999, so the price (?899) doesn't look that bad. Personally I'm drooling, but completely broke.

A very similar guitar to this was at the London guitar show last weekend. It was being sold by a large Tokai dealer, can't remember which one.

I didn't get the story on it but the price was ?999.00
