Bought a 'goldstar sound ' wondering if it's a fake

Post by Kianoush4826 » Sun Nov 03, 2019 12:56 pm

I'm based in the UK and I came across this guitar on eBay, I managed to get it for £210. It hasn't arrived yet but I've noticed that the serial number could possibly be in the wrong place. I know I haven't paid a huge sum of money and to be honest as far as I can tell it looks pretty decent. Just wondered if you guys know anything about this guitar

I can tell you it's not a MIJ Goldstar.

It could be a newer Chinese made Tokai but i don't have enough knowledge about them to know for sure.

Hope that's some help

Thanks for the reply. Yes I agree with you on it not being made in Japan. Trouble is, there doesn't seem to be much information available with regards to 'new Chinese Tokais'. I guess I'll have to assess the guitar when it turns up. Not bothered if it plays well.

Hello, Have you received the "Goldstar Sound", if so how does it play, I have noticed that the seller has another on eBay for sale.

Really would avoid. Something fishy about these 'chinese guitars' Tokai can't provide much information on them and I just think you can get better quality for the same price. I sent mine back because it was listed as 'seafoam green' but is actually 'powder blue'. It didn't feel very nice either and there was a few things that made me doubt the quality. The seller has put the same guitar back up for sale (250) although I paid (210). Would get CV start over that a anyday.
