Hi Guys, ive been looking at getting an SG for a while and theres a greco from 2010 that looks promising. However theres little to no information about the 2010 models available online. The one im looking at is a Greco SST-88, it was sold initially for 88.000 yen so back in 2010 this was a high end model (around 1000 USD at the time). Of course im aware this isnt a pre lawsuit guitar however if someone has some information about this productionyear please let me know. Theres a page on the greco site still available about them http://www.greco.jp/discontinued/

All information is welcome before i make a decision...

I've seen that one i think on the Japanese sites, i bought a Ejr-82 awhile ago and am quite happy with it. Mines white as well. 2004. The finish is barely there which i don't mind because it's not nitro. Its a real bare bones rocker. If you like a solid glossy finish stay clear.

Ornetts made these i believe for Greco

Edit

Is this the one ??

Thanks, indeed dont care much for the finish; as long as it feels and sounds good...... i have a jap strat st62 1989 which i love so i reckon id rather own a jap SG over a chinese or Koran one.....

its a red one, actually heres the link to it https://www.ebay.com/itm/Greco-SST-88-CH-Electric-guitar-Mahogany-body-Made-in-JAPAN-with-SoftCase-/264178347061

Its now in Indonesia where i live, dont know how but its the same guitar. Just little ding on the headstock

I just got mine a few weeks ago along with a bunch of other guitars so i can't really give you the scoop on the pup(s). My Jr's a p90 though unlike yours. I can't see how you can go wrong for a MIJ SG for $500 though. I'm not from Indonesia however. That seller on Ebay is probably a reseller. They don't know the guitar has already sold and left Japan. That looks like a 2006 by the serial number.

From what I can find in Japanese these Greco's and the Ornetts were actually made by Asahi Wood (https://www.asahiwood.co.jp/).
I had a high end Special of this series and they are really solid guitars.

Thanks for that info, real helpful, guitar arrived today and the finishing is impeccable, the wood looks stunning and the cavities are all very clean with insulation. The pickups are a bit hot but i can live with it, its an overall beauty!
Plays real easy and sounds great! Couldnt be happier for an sg like this for under 500usd! ill see if i can get some pics up in the next few days

Thanks brokentoes, ive got some pics in the GD drive folder is youre intersted

Hard to know for sure about the serial. Mines C004.....These were from the Supreme Sound Buster Series... thats all I know for sure.
