Hey there,

How do Tokai acoustics compare with the competition?

I understand where Tokai (electrics) stand in relation to Gibsons and such, and clearly you get a lot for what you pay, but are their acoustics the same?

Gibsons being somewhat overpriced, I imagine aren't difficult to beat in the value for money aspect. However, I have no knowledge about acoustics, nor who the 'good brands' are.

Compared to a Martin (price), my '80 - CE350S sure is.

felixcatus,

Is your 350S a solid top? I read an auction in Japan that called it a "special". Seems harder to find info on the acoustics than I thought it would be.

I think it is, the woodgrain goes down into the sound hole on the inside edge of the sound hole.
Plus, my guitar tech also told me it's a solid top.

Hi guys,

Considering that Tokai were making the C.F.Martin guitars for the World from 1974, I would say they compare extraordinarily well.
I have friends with "original" Martins who freak at my D-28H CatsEyes (TCM50V) as it eats them in every department.
Remember - the higher the number, the better the features.

regards
Peter
