Hi there,

i got another Burny, this time a Black Beauty. :)

Year: 1993
model: not sure, black Les paul Custom copy
Woods: not sure, fretboard seems dark rosewood
weight: estimated 4.5 kilos (roughly 9 lbs)
hardware: gotoh, gold
Pickups: no idea, but they soudn great
neck style: chunky
frets: very small and rather low.
neck/joint: set neck, fret edge binding, medium long tenon
sound clips: sorry, I can't make clips

On to the most important things...

Playability:
the frets ar used, but evenly, whta means the all have the same size and useage. The frets are the smallest one i have ever seen, they are the opposite of jumbo frets. Sounds as if it was not very well to play, but in deed, it is puure fun to play!
It weights slightly less than my Burny RLG 70 (or so), it hangs very balanced, neither butt- nor head-heavy, and the chunky neck is really fun to play. Although frets are low the intonation is great.
I have some guitars that play rather well, but this blacky is the winner!

Sound

To put a long story short: it is the best spounding guitar i have ever owned!
Played dry (without amp) it is loud, has a powerfull response and less trebles than my Burny Super Grade (LP Standard copy), but the mid are somehow stronger, clearer, louder. Bass seems also slightly stronger.
Sustain is very good. Even better than on my Super Grade.

Plugged in, the it sounds really great. Clean it shines clear, articulated, but always with a sonor and loud voice. Neck Pickup is more bassy, but also delivers fine trebles. Bridge PU has more upper mids, slim bass. Both PUs together sound also fine in my clean chanel. A little more upper mids, a little (but just a little) slimmer bass, just fine.
Fingerpicking sounds good, bluesy licks sound bluesy and strumming sounds strong and fine.
Usually i prefer overdrive sounds, but this Blacky make me play more often clean.

In overdrive chanel, the bridge PU comes to live. Enormeously! The PU has enough output to kick your tubes, but it is neither compressed nor muddy or too heavy. Phantastic! My Blacky screams, barks, howles and definitely ROCKS! Of course you can get also very fine blues sounds, but this baby seems to be made to rock!
Both PUs together sound also well, a little darker, a little warmer, but still rocking.
The neck PU is (like almost all neck PUs imho) a little to bassy for overdriven rhythm work, maybe perfect for jazzy stuff, but i am no jazzer.
But for solo work it has a warmth that is sometimes exactly what you need.

Oh my, this black baby is really a winner. Long time i could not imagine that an other guitar could enthuse me more than my Burny Super Grade, but this black Burny exactly does it!
:)
I am really happy with that black Burny! :D

At last the usual questions:
i assume it is a RLC60. Am i right?
Does anyone know someting about the PUs and woods?
Has it a maple or a mahagoni top?

Thanks in advance.

See you
