Yeah, I never knew they branded their own line, though. This is the first one I've ever seen.

they use lumber that was found at the bottom of the great lakes on the border of Canada and America for necks on some models...they call it timeless timber, and they also have what they call the circle fretting system where the frets are not straight across the fingerboard but rather arced, it`s almost imperceptible but they say it improves intonation up and down the neck. Their high end series costs as much as Gibsons here in Japan and they are lovely.

How would frets effect intonation? Intonation is string length, frets are perpendicular to string length. Any ideas?

something to do with fretting notes. don`t work for the company, thats what the shop staff told me.

The fretwave system sounds like it is similar, but different. This may help explain it.

thats right, the same logic FujuGen is using. though I`ve seen tons of them, I`ve yet to play any.

Fujigen's Circle Fretting System is a very slight adjustment. Check out the curvature of these frets. It isn't much, and it gets even less at the 20th fret.

History is not FujiGens brand it is Shimamura Gakki's brand.
FujiGen's brands are FujiGen, Heartfield and FgN.

Shimamura order the guitars from FujiGen and then sell them in their 80 stores across Japan.

This is how it goes with Japanese market only setups.

A chain of stores or a wholesaler orders guitars to be made by FujiGen or Terada or Tokai etc.

In the case of Fender, Kanda Shokai or Yamano order guitars from Tokai (used to be FujiGen).

In the case of the Orvilles Yamano ordered guitars from FujiGen and Terada except for the K series which were ordered by Kanda Shokai.

Well, now, they probably don't anymore. :)

Also, Tokai is only one of the factories that make fender japan. There are topics about this.

Daita Gakki makes Fender as well according to the Tokai President.
Is this them

but maybe it's a misprint and Daita Gakki should be Dyna Gakki.
Dyna Gakki makes more sense.

What I mean is Shimamura own the History brand not FujiGen.
Shimamura just gets the History guitars made at FujiGen.
Shimamura might use Tokai or someone else to make History guitars in the future, who knows.
It depends where they decide to get them made.
Fender Japan (Yamano, Kanda Shokai) have changed makers over the years.

20 century boy, hello. Haha, I understand your worries.

My pm to japanstrat is already one week old. He does not fetched it from his forum mailbox. This is just a reminder. Has nothing to do with this thread.
Regards to Paris!

I've been eyeing up some current Fujigens lately & certainly wouldn't mind picking up a GF-FH6 (basically a semi-hollow PRS/336'ish type). Ikebe usually has some nice ones on display on their website:

One of them even has a solid rosewood neck (in the PRS/Thorn/botique vein) and the woods on all of them seem to be quite nice. Even the Tele-esque model (SP-II) looks really nice & the price is reasonable too, but I'm not sure how big the neck is (I prefer HUGE necks). There are also some "Puzzle" topped models which have a sort of mosaic top comprised of different pieces of a variety of woods of different colors. Very cool!

Ok, found one of the "puzzle" (or "pazzle" as they say on here; language barrier issue i suspect :)) designed Fujigens on Digimart:

More pics here:

It reminds me a bit of the Conklin "melted top" finishes they do, but MUCH less expensive. Definitely unique.
