Ok Guys, need some help here, I bought a new Love Rock 85Q and posted my other one for sale - here and other places.

I have many e-mails tell me this is a late 1980 or early 81? The ser no is inked on under the finish, I thought it was either 0100479 or 9100479. A couple of people have written me telling me they have enlarged/enhanced the number and it's a 0 not a 9, telling me the double row tokai stamped tuners that it's older.

Selling aside, what do I have?

Just looking for some information -

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Kevin

This one looks familiar...

I've just bought one, very similar to yours, it's an LS60 (has the "60" sticker on the back of the headstock) and also has an inked serial no. beginning 01. I think that mine was built sometime before yours, as it has a serial no. somewhat lower.

Does your Love Rock also have the PCB in the control cavity?
It's got the twin ring tuners, the pointy bell TRC and the pickups look like the PAF MkI's (next time you change the strings, look at the pickup's baseplate and see if there is "Patent Applied For" stamped on the bottom).

I suspect that yours, like mine, were built late on in 1980, where the Reborn's had the stamped serial no. 00 for 1980, but they were discontinued sometime in 1980 as well. My guess is that Tokai used the "1" as the 2nd serial no. digit to diferentiate between the models.

But I am just speculating of course... :-?

It does have the PCB in the control cavity. I'm really interested now, guess I'm going to change the strings tonight and see what the pickups say.

Thank you

+1. Looks similar to a Reborn Old during the 1980 transition.

Kevin, you have a good axe there. I saw those double ring tuners and thought the guitar might be in that period (I was going to drop you a follow up email), though I would yield to the more experienced members here.

PS - I don't post much though I enjoy the forum very much. Most I've done (post wise) is selling a 320 last year, which I regret, of course, LOL.
