Could anyone advise me on this matter: I need a new set of tuners for my '84 TX70 as the originals are knackered. I cannot remove the original bushings without ruining the headstock facing so the replacements will need to drop straight in.

What would you recommend? Do the posts need to be staggered? I'm looking at these:

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

Mike.

Hi Mikey,

To replace the tuners for your TEX-70, it would be a set of Gotoh SD91G. To buy a set here is around AU$75.00, not too shabby.
Don't get Klusons either as they tend to be a poofteenth larger than the Gotoh and won't fit through the collars (bushings).

Do not get a staggered set. These were developed for the awkward tuning of Strats when using a tremelo and will not work well on the Explorer.

Hope this helps
regards
Peter
