80-82 Springy ST80?
80-82 Springy ST80?
Ok so Ive figured out how to post pics here.
Here is my newly aquired ST80.
was advertised as an 82. But im thinking by the backplate its an 80.
but the rest is pretty confusing and the hole wiring harness and pickups look non stock.
Has deluxe tuners and Final Prospec saddles on bridge.
1 =15 stamped in pickup cavity and kind of looks the same on neck.

Hang on, thats my old st 80
There is a thread on it somewhere here and was ID as a 1982 st 80 with dimarzio's. As you would know ( if it hasnt sold again since i sold it months ago)I put a springy sound decal on it as the original was gone when I got it. Since then the neck code date thing has come about, the 1 = january so could actually be early 1983.

fantastic guitar
what does the 1 = number represent
you said the 1 might be the month ie January but the other number?
I was looking at the TOKAI reg and it said 4 digit serial was 80 - 82 modelling a 56 Strat or the like
But you mentioning the Goldstar, promted me to look at those headstock images. The string tree matches the 84 Goldstar image

It is definitely no older than '82, since that's when they changed from allen key truss rod adjustment to cross-head type.
Jonah,
I'm seriously considering taking another look at that Strat and seeing if I can find any DiMarzio stampings inside the pup covers - I didn't know this until Len pointed it out. - I wasn't aware that you needed to look there . Then it would make sense that it's a post-85 St-60.
For those of you wondering what we are talking about, I bought a guitar from Jonah that promoted my first ever post here: http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php ... ht=#162851
