I only log Tokai's up to and including 1981. No TEXs produced during that timeframe.
I believe they were introduced in 1982. I do have some ranges from my old log during 1983; 2 times a 150-200 models.
Ask Reborn Old. I believe he keeps track of all Tokai models.

I've come across Explorers from 1982 through 1985 in very small numbers.

They were produced in batches alongside Flying V's and other less common G!bson models,
so quantities of any one model might prove difficult to estimate.

AFAIK, they weren't re-introduced until 2005 Chinese made EX-50 models.

Thank's guys - it keeps puzzling me. I have an '84 but I never hear of many other people with them apart from Glen on here.

Maybe a lot stayed in Japan?

Hi guys,

I checked my old stock-take records from 1984, '85 and '86 and found we (Tokai Australia) had very few of them, like 2 x '82 and 4 x '84. Overall in 3 years I believe we ordered 24 and sold 20.
At a glance, the headstocks are a different shape after 1985 and the latest ones have the logo placed differently also.
It seems those first 3 years were the most accurate ones and in terms of production, it was definately low - I'd rough a guess of 500 per year - but this is purely a guess.
