Could somebody date this Tokai Silver Star for me? It's in my possession for about 10 years.
It has 21 frets and a bridge with 'Made in Japan' stamped in.
I haven't posted pictures of the pickguard, pots and pickup's for they're all non-stock.
s/n is 9006738
It's got the number 36 on the fretboard after the 21th fret. Don't know what that supposed to mean?

Thanks for your advice,
Henk

I'll just post the obvious, someone with more knowledge will no doubt expand on it. Looks to me like a 1978/79, Olympic white, ss36. OW in the pickup cavity is colour code, the 36 on the fret board is model number, this was done before they started using the stickers that people took off, a much better method.
Not top of the range but a decent example, what does it sound like. :)

Thanks Jonah65. Very helpful. Like I said the original pups have been replaced. I've had Fralins and van Zandts in there but none of them made me fall in love with this guitar so I think I'll put it up for sale and that's why I'm inquiring here. With the now installed nameless pups it sounds OK. Decent is the word you used and you said it right. I'll stick to my Japanese Blade and my American 1992 standard strat.
