My '79 Springy Sound purchased in '84 had already been messed with enough that I could set it up as I pleased. Now that I have aquired a clean '78, it only lacks that vintage bare wood feel to get it all the way to "real" strat status.

Ned, I used a scotch guard pad on the back of one of my strats... not Tokai. I removed the tuners and rubbed the neck, not down to bare wood but enough to get the sheen off. The finish looked flat when I was done. After playing it for sometime since , I noticed the shine has returned to the neck but without the sticky feeling.
