Help me with my search for a cheap (MIJ) strat.

Hello I own one and only guitar atm - a TOKAI 2008 LC200.
I am no collector or stellar player by no means.

So I have been flirting with the idea of purchasing a good cheap strat 300 - 400 euro, if that is even possible.
I guess vintage Tokais are not for me??? since their value has gone up.
What would you advice me to look for ? old or new.

If no other suggestions my only canditate atm is Squier Classic Vibe since I have read many good things about them -just a point of refference.

PS: Sorry if someone considers this totally off topic in this forum but MIJ was the magic solution to my LP problems, maybe you can help with the strat :D

What do you mean early (aprox year) what are the differences with the new ones, why would you prefer it over the new??
 
Early in the sense that the first years of production when a manufacturer is trying to gain market approval can very often be better than later models.As for how to tell an early model,you`ll have to do some research.Gabe.

Unfortunately I am not ready to pull the trigger so I cant move on that ebay link - although it ll be some refference.

You think most MIJ Tokais 300GBP will worth the money ? I m afraid that i ll be fooled since I dont know how to judge the authenticity of a Tokai Strat like

The guitar on eBay appears to be Nitro, which makes it a current AST100.
Is an AST100 worth 300GBP?
The hardware and pickups are worth 300, without the guitar.

I was just generally asking!

I seem to be more than ignorant about strats :p

Wish I could pull the trigger now ! GAS is knocking on my door :p no money at the moment !
 
I know you are looking for MIJ, but have a look at the Squier pro tone strats. They are MIK but are becoming collectible. These have been discontinued, and some have clear finishes with really nice grain. Just something to consider and in your price range.

Is there a possibility that this is MIJ ?
Have no idea what this guitar is found it on a local trading site for a good price.

Any ideas about if its made in Japan? the quality of it ? :) the price is really cool!
 
Some early ones were MIJ. Later ones were MIK. If MIJ, it should say somewhere on it. MIK Aria pro II's were usually made by Samick and were pretty good guitars. Should have a serial # that starts with S. I think they are still making guitars in either Indonesia or China.
