Having recently purchased a stunning new rosewood board neck with a sort of flamey/quilt AND birdseyes for my bitsa strat copy I thought I might share a tip with you all.
I carefully followed the 'Rule Of Threes'; ie three mist coats of lacquer followed by a rub back, followed by three more coats, followed by a rub back, followed by three more coats then a rub back and polish, (this process has taken about a week). I applied the final coat this afternoon. It went on beautifully and the neck took on a deep lustrous gloss. I went back to the workshop to check how it was drying out, and here's the important lesson which I learnt 'Don't touch the chuffing lacquer until it's dry!'
Now I need to get out the bleedin sandpaper and start all over again.
