I just purchased a new Korean Goldstar Sound Tele in butterscotch with black pickguard and maple fretboard for the ridiculous price of $399 Canadian. 
Now the mods can start but I have a couple of questions. I'm planning on installing Harmonic Design pups and a 4 way switch, and maybe a tortoishell pick guard. Do you guys, or gals, know if standard Tele pickguards will fit and will I have to worry about any special mounting or routing problems with the pups. tia.
I'll post a list of the rest of my stuff on the post requesting that info.
