Tokai Guy, that's Billericay Dicky. It's a place (where Dicky lives).
He'd have to be doing pretty well to afford a house there too.

I never saw that in there and I have eyes like a Hawk.

Cool amp though. SRV used to blast them too I believe. I've had a couple of those in the recent past. I used to shove my Custom Audio straight in the front end for a blinding tone. Only sold the Super PA cause I bought a Bass Plexi. That's gone too now.

Yes now I'm with yer. Well it's still a good buy then even though it's ugly. Come to think of it I do recall that sitting there for a while. I must pay more attention in future :o .

Telecasters

Post by nakamichi » Wed Sep 04, 2002 6:52 pm

There's something about a Telecaster that is very hard to define. It's so simple but it can be a right bastard - the bridge pickup sound is like nothing else (the Esquire only had the bridge pickup). If I get to Heaven, and part of the deal to get in was to authentically reproduce all the intros to all the rock anthems ever, I'd ask the Lord for a Telecaster to do it with.

It's only got two pickups and no trem, but it's the most versatile guitar ever invented. Tear yer head off treble to throaty warm blues to country rock. What more could a boy want?

Er, I think he means the date he joined.

Anyway, back to strats and teles...

I just reassembled my old Breezysound. Didn't bother refinishing it so its just stripped. Sounds good, but I'm thinking of replacing the neck pickup, as its a bit underpowered compared to the bridge (which is a Seymour Duncan that was in there when I got it). Any one got any favourites tehy can recommend?

Get out the router and stick in a P90 (kent armstrong does a reasonable but cheap one).

Saw an old pic of Johnny Winter with a tele modded like that :D . Looks cool and I'm sure it sounds good, but I don't fancy making any major alterations. Anyone tried the Rio Grande tele pups?

James

Send it off to Kent Armstrong and get it rewound just a little hotter. It's cheaper and it sounds better. Done this on my both my 58' breezy pups (both guitars are still for sale by the way).

The P90 option sounds interesting though.....hmmm.
