This might be old news, but I was browsing the Tokai UK web-site and the new AST-50 and ATE-50 appear to have 'correct' headstocks???

Go easy on me I'm a newb

How long do you think they'll get away with it? My guess is Tokai have lost the Fender Japan contract, and already had a big stock of necks made up, wonder if they will continue in production like that, or the 're-issues' will be rarer than the orignals :D

A quick search did not uncover a great availability of the AST50, the AST33 [pointy headstock] seem to be more available.
I thought that perhaps you were probably more interested in looking for LP's rather than Strat's

I like to call them "Vintage" headstocks...not correct or incorrect, and definitely not Fender or Gibson headstocks. :)

Love 'em all, Strat's & LP's :D

Diamond, your love for all things Tokai is very commendable, but they ARE Fender and Gibson headstocks

i was looking at those the other day, i didn't even notice they had the "correct" headstock shape...

how are they compared to the 70 and 100 models on the japanese tokai website? are they higher or lower spec? I'm guessing they're only for the UK market... :-?

they claim to be swamp ash, too... really? or sen?

AST70 & ATE70 models have 300mm radius necks - medium size frets - new
headstock - alder - 22 frets

AST50 (ST50) & ATE50 (TE50) models - 3 piece Swamp Ash or Alder bodies - 184mm radius neck, bottom trussrod adjustment, 21 vintage frets, old vintage headstock.

My suggestion, if you see AST50s for sale, grab one, ask questions afterwards.

Where is the 70 on the website?

I'm confused. Diamond says 3 piece body, this advert says 2 piece, but isn't the one pictured a one piece body?

Maybe they didn't order them?

I guess it's hard to see the joins, the one I got is supposed to be a 3 piece body...I cant see 2 joins.
?569.00 seems like a very good price for that guitar, don't you think...what does a USA Tele sell for in the UK?

A USA telecaster is over ?700 and you wouldn't find one with a lovely ash body like that!

It certainly doesn't look like 3 pieces to me either!

That's ?569 with a case - which is a pretty good deal. I wonder if that's a pic of the actual guitar or a stock pic?
