Been away for a while due to a battle with cancer.

But that's another story for another day.

Now back to the LS150. As you may remember ( or not ), some time ago I had a selling spree. I pretty much sold off 98% of all my gear including many Tokais. I think the above post title might give you an idea of why I took this drastic action.

For some unknown reason one Tokai is like a boomarang and come back into my life. I picked it up, melted and bought it back.

Whilst I dont regret buying it back, there is no way I am going to be playing again within the next year ( I have had major surgery and can just barely sit at the computer and type ). Even then, if I do ever play again I will have to invest in a guitar that is extremly light.

So with that in mind and not withstanding being out of the market for the past 4 months ) I have no idea what current prices a 2007 LS150 is fetching........oh yeah ! its the Wine Red one again, ( so dont get excitied about bursts ). I sold it for ?795 with hard case earlier on in the year ( and yes it was worth every penny ).

So if you know anyone who wants a real beaut of an LS150 with hardcase for a respectable price, then let me know. I might have the original pictures I used when it was advertised last time and yes I know pictures speak volumes, but I have a 10 inch scar across my side with bits of my organs missing and it takes all my effort to make this post. So I will be a bit slow on replying.

I am keeping a couple of guitars that hold memorys which I will never be able to play standing up again, but the Tokai is really not going to get used and I shouldn't really have bought it back, but the pills the doctors give me seem to cloud my judgement ( well thats my excuse, I have my eye on a nice gold plated laptop that cooks and makes the tea  )

I will try and get some pics up and also advertise it on gumtree , but am looking to some of the forum posters ( you know who you are  ) to give me a good honest guide price in the current climate.

Be lucky.

Welcome back D_O. Sorry to hear you've been ill, but glad to hear you're on the mend.

For any new members who don't know him, D_O is an honest & reputable seller. The ES130 is still being enjoyed - thanks.

:p

Mike

Welcome back Donkey, hope things start to look up very soon! I think ?795 still sounds very fair for a LS150, good luck!!

If that still appears to be a reasonable price, then I may ask ?695 for a very very quick sale. I will mull it over . I'm not out to make anything ( in fact I know I will lose money ), but I dont have the mobility to parcel and post it, so someone will have to come to me :(

I will be the best ?695 anyone would spend for a prime example of a Tokai icon.

That was a another real beaut of a Tokai, I'm glad that went to someone who knows their parsnips

I kept the pictures of that ES130 and often have a sneaky peak when no one's looking. A bit like the porn you once lost

Welcome back Donkey Oaty!!

Very sorry to hear of your illness! Hope that now you've had your operation that you will be back to your fighting weight very soon.

I remember that wine red LS150! I PM'ed you at the time but I think that my judgement became similarly clouded around other guitars... Both your LS150 and natural ES-130 (hesitated fatally over that one as well) were/are fantastic. Mike got a beauty there and no mistake!

Best regards,
Darren

Many thanks for the kind words guys.

Well she's up for sale in classifieds for ?695 for a very quick sale.

All the best Donkey! Your absence has been noticed around here.

I noticed you said you will need a 2kg guitar, that is not going to be easy to find. My SG weighs 2.9kg and that's a light guitar. What about playing in the seated position?

I cant sit too good at the moment and that could be a long term issue. I was thinking about one of those travel guitars and then drilling holes in the body or getting a new body made out of very lightweight wood for my strat and just keeping one pickup and a fixed bridge.

There is always the Kazoo

Donk, my old Yamaha RGX-A2 weighed in at around 2.3Kg. Might be a good one to try - they're light as a feather, highly resonant and if you don't dig the pickups then P90s fit straight in there.

What about a Casino or ES330? Mine has a Bigsby (unfortunately) & it weighs 7 lb. The Casino I used to have (no Bigsby) was a lot lighter.

And the Gibson Blues Hawk I sold was 6lb 10 oz.

Casinos are a bit too bulky to be very comfortable, and 7lb is still around the weight of an SG. Definitely a light guitar but probably not right for Donkey!

I think you could do better than the kazoo...

A custom Strat body could definitely work, some have used lightweight pine, and I believe the body weight can be about 3 to 4 pounds. More expensive but could be great would be a body that was say 3 piece - solid regular wood down the middle where the neck and bridge fix on, and hollow sides, or sides of very light wood glued onto the centre piece.

OK it is moving away from the original recipe, but so what?

8) maybe this helps?

I am sure that I remember reading somewhere that Billy Gibbons (who else?) once experimented with having an LP type guitar custom made out of balsa wood!!?? However I have no recollection of Mr. Gibbons going on to say that it was an unqualified success (this would likely have been have been from an interview given to the UK magazine 'Guitarist'). Has anyone ever tried a similar experiment at all?

For a very lightweight guitar with great tone and sustain ,guaranteed to put a smile on your face thus aiding you recovery ,try the Tokai Talbo Woody. It`s way cool. 8) Gabe.
