Okay I can't keep quiet on this any longer!! Last Thursday my girlfriend sprung a surprise on me with a visit to Lollar Guitars on Vashon Island during my stay in Seattle!! We were greeted by General Manager, Greg Timmons (ex-Music Man) and given a 90 minute tour of their boutique pickup making facility, meeting their 8 or so employees and seeing firsthand how they hand wind their pickups. I was then given a free hand with trying out my pick of 20/30 guitars (Collings/Fender/Gibson etc) that they had loaded with their pickups (including their new "El Rayo" humbucker that is currently being field tested and isn't even on sale yet!) through both Fender and 65amps combos in a very cool studio. Jason Lollar was also kind enough to spend some time with us answering my questions also. Left with a "Dog-ear" P-90 for my Hamer Korina Special and placed an order for a set of their "Hi-Wind" Imperial humbuckers for a parts Strat that I am putting together. Vashon Island was just beautiful - like going back in time - we had perfect, bright, very hot and sunny weather the whole day. I recommend the coffee from here (available mail order via Amazon):
