Hello Guys,

I am just about to buy a Tokai Jazz Bass. The one I have on my target is beautiful, but doesn't have serial number.
Is it Japanese or Korean? What year could it be made?

Could you please advise if it is possible to identify this model?
The photos are attached.

Thank you a lot!

Not sure. I don’t think that decal goes with that bass.

Truss rod adjustment at the headstock.

Need more pics to know what’s going on.

I’m not a bass player, but I think there might be some deception going on there by using that decal and relic’ing to look older.

That decal goes with pre 1983 Jazz basses like these from 1982.

Truss rod adjustment is at the butt of the neck, not the headstock.

Thank you for a quick response.

What exactly photos do you need? I will get those. Here are some additional.

I confirm that the Relic'ing was made intentionally by the current owner.

Can you share a picture of the neck plate?

A photo under the pickguard and/or neck pocket will tell you if it’s even a Tokai.

Here are the photos:

Thanks. Yep, no serial number on that plate. If they can give you pics under the pickguard that should tell you if this is a Tokai.

At this point, it is not what it appears to be with the Tokai spaghetti logo sticker.

Right now, it's a generic bass until the seller can establish what it is.

Need pics of the compartments to look at routs and look for markings.

100% assure you this is not a lawsuit era Tokai. Heastock shape, slab board, trussrod adjustment position, tuners, bridge, finish, skunk stripe for a 2pc neck.....not a tokai at all.
