Hello everyone, excited to join the community of Tokai owners and enthusiasts. I've been playing guitar for a little over 20 years now. My first electric guitars were an 80s Ibanez Rocket Roll II (flying V) and a 2004 Gibson Explorer. I tend to go for more exotic guitar shapes, but recently got the itch to finally add a Les Paul type to the stable.
I'd heard great things about the Japanese copies (burnt, greco, esp, etc.) of the Les Paul, and with the dollar to yen conversion being so crazy good I decided the time was right. Consensus seemed to be that the made in Japan Tokais are phenomenal. I didn't want to skimp on features, but who the hell wants to pay modern Gibson prices?
So long story short, I got this premium series Tokai LC254S BB with the lacquer coat. The fit and finish/QA on this thing is unbelievable. Absolutely love their PAF style pickups too. The only "flaw" is that it weighs 9.8 pounds, but I knew to expect that in an unchambered LP. She's already got strap locks installed.
