I bought this from someone in Manchester in 2000. They said it was an ALS48 model. I've never been sure, even after looking in the catalogues. Does anyone have any ideas?

Very cool.

It is Korean obviously. These ink stamped "Made In Korea" models seem to be from the early to mid 2000s. Still sorting that out.

Made In Korea Stamp

2000 catalog with specs on the ALS48 below.

Catalog pic shows the normal TLS headstock which is confusing. Not sure why they were not consistent in the catalogs.

The "A" means American market which signified the altered headstock shape to deal with Gibson's trademark rights.

Also known as the "export dimple".

So yours looks like the ALS48 VF (Violin Finish).

And are you sure about the 2000 date when you bought it?

That would help me sort out when these were made if I could get an accurate date.

Thanks!

Thanks. So it was made somewhere in there.

Hope those specs help. It does indeed seem to be an ALS48 VF.
