1980 ST80 With Gold Hardware

Whenever I see a fake 7-decal, I lose all interest in the guitar (often also when the decal is real tho ).

Cool. I would buy it in a heartbeat if I had the cash. Easy to run down a Springy decal and this was often done in those days and seemingly encouraged by the folks at Toaki as mentioned in earlier catalog translations. They made it easy to do.

That made me curious so I checked the auction via Buyee... well, yikes! But you already have an ST-80!

Interesting that the neck plate isn't gold to match the rest of the hardware. The ST-60 with gold hardware that surfaced a while ago seemed to have a gold neck plate but for whatever reason this one missed out. Nice ST-80 but that price seems a bit optimistic.

I think it’s because these are probably in effect after market parts as opposed to a special order scenario.

All of these parts were sold separately at the time in gold. Neck plate with serial number wasn’t.

The “G” in this catalog from 1978 stands for gold part.

Note that there is a neck plate. I would bet this photo was taken when the serial number was still stamped in ink on the neck.
