2008 MIJ Tokai "ES Custom" Semi-Hollow SOLD

Yes, it was the strangest thing. I have no idea why Reverb zeroed in on my listing in particular. Weird...

2008 MIJ Tokai "ES Custom" Semi-Hollow SOLD

Agreed. Except Reverb won't allow me to use "335" or even "ES" in my listing title. Pointing out that ES was actually the model designation was not well received by Reverb either...ha ha!

2008 MIJ Tokai "ES Custom" Semi-Hollow SOLD

2008 MIJ Tokai "ES Custom" Semi-hollow. Tokai doesn't build a regular production guitar with specs like this one so it had to be ordered through their custom shop. The general specs include: Flamed maple top & back in See-through Red (SR); Nitro lacquer finish; Madagascar Rosewood fretboard...

    Tokai ES-Custom (335) "Love Rock". Info/Comments?

Sent a query off to tokai gakki to see what, if any, additional information they could provide. Not much came back, other than confirmation of what was already known or suspected: Dear Customer, Thanks for your inquiry to Tokai Gakki. This is some kind of special order, but we do not know the...

    Tokai ES-Custom (335) "Love Rock". Info/Comments?

I wondered about that myself as it looks more figured than the usual offerings. I'm wondering now if the guitar is perhaps a one-off custom order then, as I've not encountered all of those of high-end features on a single instrument...

    Tokai ES-Custom (335) "Love Rock". Info/Comments?

I've only seen one or two other examples of these semi-hollows elsewhere with "Love Rock" (instead of a flowerpot) on the headstock. I read somewhere that Tokai built a small number of them. I believe it may have been for Hisashi? I've not seen another example with FEB however. The label on this...

I checked with Canada Post and, after accounting for the neck being removed to minimize the dimensions (and cost), it comes to about $100CAD fully insured....

FS: '84 Tokai Goldstar Sound ST-60 (all original)...

I picked this up recently in trade and simply haven't used it. Really nice guitar but I have plenty of those already and other priorities at the moment so...up it goes! The guitar is all original and in EXC condition. With the exception of a small ding in the back of the neck, there really is...

Help identify my Tokai: Goldstar Sound ST-80?

Thanks. With everyone's help here, I'm now confident about what I have. As I indicated earlier, I'm not planning to keep it though as I have plenty of others at home. Perhaps I'll post it here in the classifieds, with a link to this post, and see what happens. I'd wager that folks here would...

Help identify my Tokai: Goldstar Sound ST-80?

I inspected it quite closely under natural light and simply could not find a centre seam. No evidence of one in the neck pocket or trem cavity either. I also wanted to point something out, the following chart I found on this site led to my initial confusion here as it indicates the lowest model...

Help identify my Tokai: Goldstar Sound ST-80?

Ok, I did the "acetone test" and....nothing! Tried both the neck heel and trem cavity and same results. I then tried it on the back of a parts neck I had laying around, which was known to be nitro finished, and...voila! The result was immediate and the difference was obvious so I think it's fair...

Help identify my Tokai: Goldstar Sound ST-80?

So, without confirmation on the finish, let's assume it's an ST-60 then. With that said though, have others observed "finish checking" in poly finished guitars? I'll see if I can snap a pic to capture what I'm referring to on this guitar... In any case, the conclusion is disappointing in as...
