    Tokai Single Coil Pickups

I will pull the p/ups out and do some measuring at the weekend. I have been very confused as to whether it’s a 60 or a 40. It seems to me a bit of a mish mash! It had a factory repaint from met red to black. Very odd all round. certainly not a museum piece. the guy I got it from used it in...

Surely not a pre-law suit tele!?!

Well, he got ?340 for it. Remind me to sand all the finish of my knackered lower end guitars and put them on ebay as pre- Lawsuit roadworn. ;)

    Super edition Strat re-fret

Forgive me Father for I have sinned. I have just re-fretted my "vintage" 1984 Super Edition Strat, with medium jumbo wire and re-radiused the neck from 7.25 to 9.5". It plays and sounds great. I put the original U p/ups back in (I had a set of SD Alnico Pro IIs in). My defence is that this...

This seems to show the headstock used to have a script logo. Is the description a tad optimistic...

    84 Strat ST70 fret question

Me again! I am definitely changing the radius to 9.5". I'm probably going to use Jescar FW 50085, which is a nice happy medium. Now here's my concern: The SD neck is lacquered black right up to the top of the fingerboard - covering the ends of the fret tangs - exactly as if the neck were...

    84 Strat ST70 fret question

Just a quick follow up - am I right in thinking that Medium Jumbo is the lowest fender fret wire?

    84 Strat ST70 fret question

Mmm. Not a bad idea. I'm not too fussed about originality on this guitar. It's nice, but a work horse rather than a museum piece - worth more to me than its resale value, which in this market can't be much north of ?250-350 at a push. Maybe this is a good time to take the whole radius down...

    84 Strat ST70 fret question

Hi folks I think I'm going to have to do a re-fret on my ST70 Super Edition Strat. The neck is a 7.25" radius, small h/stock etc. The frets have had a pretty poor levelling by a tech for the previous owner. So I can't get a feel for how high the frets were originally. (I will be taking out...

Recommend a UK courier please ...

Hi Folks, I have to send a guitar up to Scotland. I was going to send it by Parcel Force 24 Hours Next Day. But I have mixed views about Parcel Force. Who do you recommend, and what has your experience been with couriers? Thanks in advance. Steve

My ES 130 VNT listing on ebay finishes tomorrow.

Well, she's sold now. I thought it would be helpful to post the sale price achieved. Only got ?699 for her. She was in mint condition, hardly played, with ?85 pro set up and ?120 Hiscox Pro II shell case. Is the market for selling generally poor at the moment? All the best Steve

    LS1000s on Ebay UK

I notice they didn't sell. Selling them as a pair seems a bit silly. I can understand wanting one. But two?? I've got one and they are very good indeed, so if these are relisted individually, they would be worth a look.

What colour was my '84 Super Edition Strat when it was born?

Some photos at last! http://s1186.photobucket.com/albums/z362/mydogiszen/Tokai%20Super%20Edition%20Stratocaster/ I was interested by the question whether this is a ST40. I got that, not from any information on the guitar, but from looking at Spec Editions on the Web. I was interested to see...

What colour was my '84 Super Edition Strat when it was born?

Thanks, Gabe - great idea! I think I'll try this first. Would you go straight for the T-Cut or, should I remove the first layers with fine grit wet and dry or wire wool? Cheers Steve

What colour was my '84 Super Edition Strat when it was born?

Mmm. My last guitar finish (and first) finish I used was French Polish. As a result am can now do French Polishing. I googled the CAR Survivor Club, which lead me to Reranch.com, and started to get the feeling that CAR might be another large learning curve. I guess the worst that could...

What colour was my '84 Super Edition Strat when it was born?

I thought as much - not sure whether it's worth the time and effort to refinish it in CAR. I've noticed that the original brightwork was gold - but now a nickel colour. The bridge is chrome, so I guess that's not original either. I'd really like to bring it back to original, but as an ST40...
