Desperately seeking a high quality Japanese made J200, wether it's Tokai/Burny/Greco/Epi doesn't worry me much - so long as it sounds awesome! Preferably in AUstralia (i know i'm dreaming there!!!) Thanks!!

Well here's an update on the SA800. I replaced the pickups with some pretty old and rusty looking gibson classic '57 PAF's, and while my luthier was doing that he found a fix for the varitone!! I gotta tell you, this thing is a beast! Sounds awesome! If you haven't stumbled across my other posts...

Thanks mertzy for the suggestion, but it's not quite that simple as the gibson one has a choke mechanism that I don't believe the greco has. So it's not just the wiring, the mechanics therefore the capacitors are all different. If I can't track down a wiring diagram I reckon bypass it will be~...

Hey ryan, did you have a look at the pics?? Do you know what the pups are? There's no markings on them at all other than the code which helped me work out it was a 75 model....????????? Would love to know more about them.

**** straight I think it's pointless, but then I've heard of peeps with the same model and their varitone works and they say that their SA800's are at least equal to a mid 60's gibby 345! So I'm at a loss! I can't help but love the look and feel of the guitar (the neck on mine is brilliant) but...

Hey Koubayashi, I've got a 75 SA800 that's wired mono, and my varitone sort of works but my pickups are running at about 50% volume of my other guitars which tells me there is something wrong with the varitone. My luthier says if he bypasses the varitone I'll get full use of the pickups again...
