    Authenticity

Well, to get the full picture, we need to have enough photos of the guitar in question. Providing measurements of the neck plate spacing would be good as well. From looking at hundreds of auctions on ebay/ yahoo over the years I can say that I have seen pictures of an 1978 Springy without the...

WTB - P90 Hot Lick or comparable for bridge position

I have one or two of them in my parts drawer. One from a SS-500 and one from a Greco DC Junior. Have to look up how much shipping to the US would be.. If you´re interested, please PM.

Identifying a Breezysound w/o serial number.

Impossible to tell if this is even a real Tokai from these 4 photos.... So my advice would be, stay away from the deal until getting more detailed pictures from the seller or inspecting the guitar in person. There should be production code stamps in the control cavity, in the neck or bridge...

SOLD: 1981 Greco TL-800 Brazen Picker Professional

Nice mint example of a Super Real TL-800. If you prefer U-shaped necks you could keep your eyes open for a late 1981 or early 1982 TL-800. They changed the specs a bit on those and went from V-Neck to U-Neck. Different Bridge pickup and tuners as well. Staggered polepieces on bridge pickup...

Tokai Springy Sound St80 + above stock pickups from the 80s

Well, a vintage ST-100 is a great thing! Why not try how it sounds with the stock pickups before considering a swap? The Dimarzios have black bobbins and their pickup covers have "Dimarzio" written on the inside. The E pickups have grey bobbins and "E"-stamp :) There were some Silver Star...

    Help identifying Springy Sound

Welcome, looks like a nice guitar to me. Very clean. I think we can rule out ST-80 here, sorry. -Not all maple necks from that period have the same profile. ST-50 and ST-60 are U-profile and ST-80 V-profile necks. -at that time Tokai usually marked their ST-80 necks and bodies with the letter...

What model is this GRECO SE? Please Help

The small headstock strats for the pre Super Real era all have the Super Sound / handcrafted logo. It looks like Greco kept the headstock the same when they built the first batch of small-headstock SE-380s in late 1979 or early 1980. I have also logged a stickered SE-500 with H79 serial and...

What model is this GRECO SE? Please Help

Very interesting guitar. That?s SE-380 specs all the way. If you look at a few 380s from 1980-1982 they all have that routing (because of the S3 pickup cables which attach to the side of the bobbins and not to the middle) as well as those pickups, tuners and unstamped saddles. (1980-82 SE-500...

    Tokai Silver Star SS48 real?

Looks good, look at the back of the headstock, SS-48s have Schaller-style tuners. The pickups will probably be original Tokai Greybacks but they are NOT Dimarzios. Dimarzios only came with high-end SS-80s and had black bobbins.

'79 Silver star with mixed signals ..pending!

That?s an odd one. All parts appear to be Tokai-made. Tuners on the neck are SS-36 / SS-40 style. SS-48 and up had Schaller-style tuners at that time. I can?t make out a model stamp on the fretboard on any of the photos. It should be there for that year, can be very faint though, but I don?t...

    What have I bought?

a Tokai TE-50 body with original TEB pickup(s). serial points to somewhere between 1982 and second half of the 80s . body probably has a "BL" colour and Tokai production codes under the non-original copper shielding. + 1991-1992 Fender USA neck ?

    FS 1980 Greco SE-600

Neck profile on the 600 is a medium to thick C/U profile - 22,5mm 1st to 25,2mm 12th fret. My se-800 has a slimmer U neck btw - they seem to vary a bit

Do goldstars have soft v neck ? hated hard v on my MIJ 54

Tokai Necks, especially for the higher models can vary quite a bit. My measurements from 5 Tokai strat/tele V-Necks (all `A`-stamped) from 1979-1982 1st fret: all measurements between 20,4 and 23mm 12th fret: all measurements between 24,2 and 25mm If we look at felicatus measurements you...

Could someone help me to identify this Tokai (Goldstar?)?

we discussed about the hardware parts here MrDeJaVu could you please tell me if the tremolo unit (block & tremolo plate) is a cast one-piece or is it 2 pieces where the block is screwed onto the plate ? In the photo it looks like a one-piece to me but I?m not quite sure.
