    Rockem music shop

Hi folks - Rockem are a genuine Tokai dealer. Usually VERY good service - bought a Love Rock off them, nothing but good words for the fine fellas there.

Truss rod covers - ALS48 MIK

Hi folks - I'm sure this has been asked before - I've got a MIK ALS48 Premium (thank you Rockem Music) which I'm delighted with. It's a UK issue, ie three hole truss rod cover. I'd like to replace this with a nicer looking one - now, I know 2 hole Gibson ones won't fit - will Epiphones ? I...

    Stock pickups, ghaaaaa !!!!

Thanks, folks - much appreciated !!! I'm getting told (by my brother, who's been playing guitar for 35 years) - "Oh, forget cheap pickups, get a Seymour Duncan SH1 bridge and save up for the neck pickup"..... I think he's forgetting that a pickup is a bobbin, some magnets, a ton of wire and...

    Stock pickups, ghaaaaa !!!!

Whoopsie ! Just bought an ALS 48 Premium in Black Cherry - which I'm enormously happy with, except for the stock pickups, which, er, um. Less of which said the better. Alas, given the current state of the UK economy (and the fact that my missus might disembowel me if I ask for a small fortune)...

Kustom Tube 12 practice amp - no reverb !

Hi Marcus - thanks ! That's exactly what I was looking for..... $380, ooooops ! Looks like the Holy Grail seems to be the answer, then ! :-) Cheers all - much appreciated, as ever ! Dave

Faber componet up grade for Love Rock

Looks good stuff, and hardly bank-breakers as well ! Cheers, Markcus !

    strap locks

Got straplocks fitted on all the guitars I own - Schallers on Danelectros, or where there's a strap button normally at the neck joint (and hence little clearance) - Marvel system for LP's / Teles. It certainly IS possible to drop a guitar. I also play sax and have had a few expensive repairs to...

How to Peter Green my Love Rock?

    PS Stratman - cor, nice 130 !!! :o :P

How to Peter Green my Love Rock?

 Hi Stratman - God, he was kerrrrr-ap, wasn't he ? :P What made it worse for us was that we were sitting six rows back - the bloke in front of us jumps up and down, going "Yer a legggend, yer a legggggend".... all through Mr Moores' tedious guitar twangery..... on comes BB King, and out...

Kustom Tube 12 practice amp - no reverb !

Cheers, Marcus - but - if I was spending that amount on a pedal.... I'd prefer a plug in reverb, to be honest !

Kustom Tube 12 practice amp - no reverb !

Hi folks - looks like I'm getting a Kustom Tube 12. It's a hybrid with a 12AX7 - however !! There's no reverb on it. I'm thinking of adding a Danelectro spring reverb pedal .... (you might get the idea that this is "best possible noise for low money) .... just thinking about it, are there any...

    String Gauge - again

10-52's on a Dano, 9-42's on an Epi Gold Top. (Hopefully buying a Tokai soon ! ) - the 9's are much better for bending. 10's for heavy bottom end blues. Only been playing a year - but I've been playing sax for 32 years. With saxes, the old con is "heavier the reed, better the tone". However...

How to Peter Green my Love Rock?

I used to go out with one of the dancers from Thin Lizzy. Went into my local bikers' pub (this was, er, some time ago) with the usual gear on - tatty leather jacket, ripped jeans, cowboy boots.... opened the door up, and there was Phil Lynott and Gary Moore ! I said to Phil, "Oi, Lynott, you're...

ALS48 Finishes (UK) and hardware question - newbie time !

Thanks, Mick. Unfortunately, funds say "ALS48" - I'd love something more expensive, but - I'm really not a good enough guitarist to justify spending the money (must be a first, someone admits on a forum that he's no good !! ) - plus, the Missus would probably strangle me. As I think I...

    Ordering LS85 with Bigsby?

That's nice !! I've been thinking about fitting a B7 or B70 Bigsby for some time (in this case, to an Epiphone Gold Top). I'm hopefully going to be a Tokai owner in the not too distant future.... so it'll eventually be a Bigsby on one or the other ! Relatively easy to fit a Bigsby yourself -...

ALS48 Finishes (UK) and hardware question - newbie time !

Looks absolutely great - I think I'm more drawn towards a violin burst, to be honest !!! Can I ask if there's a huge difference between the ("less expensive") 48's and the more expensive 85's ? (Not that I'll be able to afford an 85 ! :-) ) I just can't work out how Tokai do it for the price...

ALS48 Finishes (UK) and hardware question - newbie time !

Thanks, folks - much appreciated ! And point taken about the variable quality of Chinese Tokais. Looks like I'm going to have to find someone near Macclesfield who'll let me have a go before buying..... it's not going to be for a little while (the Missus points out that I got an Epi Gold Top...

ALS48 Finishes (UK) and hardware question - newbie time !

Si, that's absolutely great - thanks !!! - trouble is, I like 'em both and can't decide....... aaaaaargghhhh !!!!! :-)

ALS48 Finishes (UK) and hardware question - newbie time !

Hi folks - first post here !! Well, given the somewhat dubious quality of Epiphones recently (and the fact that the supply's dried up in the UK) - my next guitar, I've decided, is going to be an ALS48 Love Rock. Trouble is, I'm torn between two finishes - Lemon Drop and Violin. Try as I might...
