1979. Looks like it has dowel tenon neck joint. Probs one of first with Super Real script. Later EGFs had the deep stepped tenon construction.

I think you’re probably right that it was related to the outsourcing. Demand outpaced production capabilities.

Remember the polyester finish on the LS 50s when they farmed them out to other factories? It’s in the catalog. when the inkies were around.

I used to own in 1980 Greco EG 800 GS. Don’t know if it had a nitro lacquer top or not. It was pretty but I’m not sure it’s the same lacquer formula. Seemed different to me than the nitro I have on my old Gibson.

Exactly!. Stay away from veneers for those reasons. They might be pretty, but they’re not authentic Les Paul construction.
