    Thanks for the sleuthing!

I'm not sure whether to be a bit disappointed that it was not 'all original', or happy that it became unique and had a journey! Guess it doesn't matter too much as the electrics and bridge are now in long term storage!

I always felt it was a bit weird as it was 5 way, but the 1,3 and 5 are more stable positions, and the 2 and 4 felt weaker to have it in.

Thanks, I added another pic of the switch showing soldering in the pics above. Also thanks for imparting your knowledge - I've often wondered at its heritage (hence the original post 15 years ago) as the rosewood neck seemed non-standard.. I don't think I'll ever sell it now - it's kinda grown...

That feels like a lot of changes through the 80s! I bought it around '92 in the UK, The person who had it before me must have had direct access to Tokai for so many changes!

For origin sleuths intersted in the case: Pickups are grey "IIV' (so the wrong way round to normal VII) with B&W wires. Pots are a bit hard to make out, Have added pics to see if they make sense to anyone. Switch number in top left is 341 Also the neck used to have a "Made in Japan" sticker on...

15 Years later and Anon was right. Admitedly I have replaced the pickups, pick guard, trem bridge, electrics, pots, dials, and swapped the selector switch for a freeway 10 way switch, but this is a guitar I now play every day, and love. (Worry not, I've kept all original parts in a safe place)

That's good news, thanks again Stratman! I've still got the tape pulled back at the moment, although to be honest I'll need a better camera if I'm going to get shots good enough to give prospective buyers a good idea of it. So despite that, all important question now... what do we think she's...

Ok, I've got home and peeled off the tape, and the magic code is: 2-1 BBV So what does this tell us??! Looks like a football score prediction to me... anyone else got an idea? EDIT: Also just opened up the neck from the body.. on the neck there's what looks like a handwritten 9, followed...

Ha, what can I say, except that I had some spare copper tape! - well and truely killed the buzz though (at one point I was considering installing some humbuckers - kinda glad I didn't) Now that you show the innards from that angle, with the tag in the body, it DOES ring a bell... *unsheaths...

Hi Stratman, noticed one of my pics didn't work so I've fixed it... There aren't any stickers on the back of the neck - the previous owner must have removed them. I'll have a look when I get home and see if I've got a serial number inside where it is on your pic. Thanks for that.. v useful.. Ian

Thanks Magnus, I'll unscrew the neck tonight and have a look. Whereabouts inside would I find the serial number in the body? (i.e. back of the bridge pickup, on side wall, etc etc - if I can I'd rather just remove the necessary area of copper insulation.. Do the photos provide any further...
