    SRV Tokai

I saw Stevie many times in the early to mid 80's around the Dallas club scene and while my memory is a bit artificially clouded, I don't remeber ever seeing any Tokais. And, if that was too much for the TST, a guy could always lower his sights and get this empty vodka bottle...

whats up with this finger board?

Ah, thanks. After a proper night's sleep, all of my interest in that neck has evaporated.

whats up with this finger board?

I believe you are right about Blackmore. I've never played one, kinda of makes me think about bidding on it. Anyone know if Tokai ever sold a strat scalloped?

whats up with this finger board?

Scalloped, ala Yngwie Malmsteen. Don't know if Tokai ever sold a scalloped fretboard, I'd sure never do that to a vintage neck. The Fender Malmsteen Strat comes that way.

New to Tokai Stratocasters - is this a good one???

One more data point on an "E" that was in the bridge position on my TST-'62. DC resistance reading 6.235 KOhm.

    56' Stratocaster copy

Yea, the TST/AST - 56/62 are different than most in the they represent the year of the Strat they are copying, not the price in yen.

TST-56 on sale, need an opinion

$750 USD seems pretty high. There is one one CL in Portland for half of that. http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/msg/1198538064.html Interesting that it has an 11 hole pickguard - maybe it has been changed out. My '62 has an original 8 holer though.

    56' Stratocaster copy

I'd definitely put the AST-56 and TST-56 on your list to look at and try. I got lucky and stumbled into trading for a TST-62. In the space of two weeks, I went from having never hear of Tokai to putting my Fender AVRI '57 Strat up for trade because I prefered the Tokai to the Fender. It is...

    New (to me) TST-62

Hey Gabe, I'm not sure about the 'L'. If you search the registry for TST-62's, there are a number of them listed in the same 13XXX and 14XXX range without the 'L'. As far as the neck shape goes, I'd have a hard time calling it a V though it could technically be. It seems a bit thin. I'll...

    New (to me) TST-62

Thanks guys. I consider myself very lucky to have acquired it. I find it better playing and sounding than the american reissue strat it replaced and it is so much easier to grab and noodle around on than the LP. The ONLY problem is I'm feeling the urge to get more Tokais. Cheers, Doug

    New (to me) TST-62

First and foremost I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation and thanks to the members of this forum. If not for you guys I would not now own my TST-62. A little while back I began getting the first signs of G.A.S. pains. I decide to try to raise a little cash and put up on CL an...
