What are the top of the crop P90 goldtops?

Hi, I have a Tokai LS160S which I bought about 10 years ago. It was the top of the line model at the time and has been my main guitar ever since. I would like to get me a second one which I can load with different pickups (Antiquities) and string it with 12s instead of 11s ... anyway ... It...

Hi, I am looking for a Tokai Tele, preferably vintage. I would prefer an alder body with rosewood board ... but a nice maple neck might be an option too. What are the models to look for, which ones are best avoided? thanks!

    80s Hard Puncher advise please!

Hi, I'd like to get me a vintage Hard Puncher. I found two nice ones in great condition but can't decide. My options are: 1) early 80s PB50, candy apple red, rosewood fretboard, stamped steel tuners, "hard puncher" is written in small letters underneath the Tokai logo, 3.8 kilos, original hard...

Any ES160 (ES-335 style) owners out there?

Hi, I just bought my third Tokai Love Rock and think about replacing my Gibson ES-335 with a Tokai as well. I am interested in the ES160 (block inlay). Does anybody know what kind of neck profile they have? thanks!

    80's Explorer MIJ quality?

I have never laid my hands on one but FWIW, here's what I think: price is determined by supply and demand ... since the demand for Les Pauls is higher the lower price for the Explorer should be explained. I own a '85 LS80 as well and it is so nice that I immediately sold my Gibson Custom Shop...

Has anybody compared an LSS104 to an LSS195? (LP Special)

I am trying to decide ... is the extra cost worth it? In which way does the honduras mahagony of the LSS195 sound different that the indian mahagony of the LSS104? I don't worry too much about electronics/PUs since it can be upgraded. It's the wood, paint and workmanship that I am interested in...

1980 LS80 Pickups Keep or Replace?

I changed the PUPs in my '80 LS80 as well but haven't found the right ones yet. I had a set of SD '59 but they were too dark. Now I have Classic 57s but they are a bit harsh. I think I'll try SD Antiquities next ...

    what pickups are in a 1980 LS80?

hmm ... there are no nickel covers and they have adjustable pole pieces on both coils so the covers wouldn't even fit. I have googled a little and these pickups appear on other guitars as well. I think the guitar came this way.

    what pickups are in a 1980 LS80?

Hi, Just out of curiosity ... what are the pickups that came in '80 LS80s? They are open coil zebras with adjustable pole pieces on both coils. Are those the original pickups anyway? They look exactly like the ones in the pic: I am not too crazy about the look of open coil pickups on a Les...
