    Reborn Old and mapleflame mod

Thanks for that link Sigmania, very interesting. Thanks for your thoughts too, Guitar Hiro. Assuming the guitar will indeed likely have hybrid screw/posts, I think I'll leave things be.

    Reborn Old and mapleflame mod

A while ago I bought some metric sized 38mm bridge studs to perform the so-called 'mapleflame mod' on my 1980 Tokai Reborn Old. Figured maybe I ought to get on with it... but then wondered if anyone else has done it with their older Tokai Reborn/Love Rock guitars? On a Gibson, replacing the...

School Me on 1980s Tokai Explorers (TEX model)

I have no information for you on the Tokai's, but I know where there's a 70's Greco: http://www.realguitars.com.au/sales/index.php?productID=159 Also in the last 24 months this place http://www.musicswopshop.com.au have had in a Tokai, Ibanez and two Burny Explorers, and currently have an Ibby...

My new Tokai TJ... PICS VISIBLE NOW!

OK, I got 3mm bolts instead of grub screws and they work fine with the tailpiece. However that's not the actual problem... I really need a compensated wraparound tailpiece or adjustable tailpiece, cos adjusting the bolts on the plain tailpiece just makes the flat intonation flatter!

There you go. 2005! (Yes, mine was impressed, 7-digit)

    Juno Les Paul

70s Ibanez's had 3-screw TRC's as well, even the sought-after Flying V and Explorer copies. My '77 Ibanez (possibly a refurbished Greco) has a 3 screw TRC and is second to nobody's guitar in playability and tone.

My new Tokai TJ... PICS VISIBLE NOW!

Hi folks, Long time lurker, I finally have good reason to post, this arrived in the mail yesterday: An absolutely rocking guitar, so dynamic and versatile. I wonder if anyone can help me ascertain what the model number is? It's a 2005 with a 3-piece body, certainly more subtle joins...

    Yamaha Lp600 Lord Player

I notice it has the 'correct' headstock - I think 600 series are Ginsob style and 500 series are Yamaha style (ugly on a LP type guitar IMO).

    1981 LP Custom ??????

... except for the 1981 Tokai LP Custom I found in Australia that also has a bound headstock but no inlay I would have agreed with you.

Bass "made in the Tokai Ibanez factory

Cimar was a cheapy 80's Ibanez off-brand, not very playable next to the Ibby's. AFAIK, not related to Tokai at all.

Special Edition 1981- is this real?

According to the website, the pickups are "Goto PAF S stamped pickup, Rear 59B" Gotoh neck and Seymour Duncan 59 in the bridge? I thought the 'Les Paul' logo was a later addition. I suggested it to the shop staff, who said no, it's original. i ran my thumb over it and figure that if it...

Special Edition 1981- is this real?

Fantastic info, thanks Mick. It's selling at $1400 Australian, I'd love to pick up an LS for $800 - $1000 if I could. Played a couple of new LS's yesterday and they were very nice, not quite as nice as the older guitar mentioned above though. Any pointers would be welcome.

Special Edition 1981- is this real?

Hi guys, long time lurker, looking to purchase my first Tokai this year. I found this in a local store: http://www.japanvintageguitars.com/images/large/Tokai%20special%20edition.jpg It plays like a dream. They say it's a 1981 and that the 'Les Paul' is authentic, I'm not so sure. Can anyone...
