    Tokai LS60 - 1980 - Black

    Differences between Non-Sunburst LS50/LS60/LS70/LS80 Models

The 1980 LS60 in question (featured in the ebay link above) was purchased for ?360 - I am dead chuffed about it. An LS80 of the same vintage would probably go for something around ?800. Money-why care about it? :0)

    30th Anniversary Model

I've noticed a number of Tokai 30th Anniversary models lurking about on ebay. Are there any members of the parish that own one? They tend to fall around the ?1k mark - any idea how their craftsmanship compares to a vintage LS series? Andy

    Differences between Non-Sunburst LS50/LS60/LS70/LS80 Models

    - Rather than trying to start the same thread again (the original was about trying to identify the year of what was a pending ebay purchase at the time), I wanted to get more information about the subtle differences between the LS 50/60/80 models. As some members of the parish wanted to see...

    Differences between Non-Sunburst LS50/LS60/LS70/LS80 Models

Although I'd love to be linked to a double act, none of the names that you mentioned above are ringing any bells from my past. Are they advertising companies. Law Firms? Comedy Acts? Or, perhaps, Tokai owning hit-men from the East End. Thanks for all your help and the links. Although I had read...

    Differences between Non-Sunburst LS50/LS60/LS70/LS80 Models

As a recent convert to Tokai (via a lovely Gold Star Sounds 'strat'), I've recently made my 2nd purchase and now am a proud owner of a '80 LS60 Love Rocks. This guitar has got me wondering about the differences between Tokai's non-sunburst LS50/LS60/LS70/LS80 models. Do all pre-85 Love Rocks...

Is this really an '81 Love Rocks?

Your sister is a beauty. Thanks so much for helping me to find the rest of my family. It's much appreciated. I no longer feel like an orphan. The guitar has indeed been purchased but hasn't arrived at its new home yet. Are the PAF pickups featured in the ebay pics original Tokai versions or...

Is this really an '81 Love Rocks?

Serial Number 0103439 Is this a 'confusion model' because of the '81 and '01 serial number similarities? It looks old enough to be an '81 but could very well be a battered '01. Any ideas?

Is this really an '81 Love Rocks?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120158993172&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:UK:31 Tokai gurus - your help is needed. Is this really an '81 Love Rocks? Judging from the serial number, it's a 2001 model. And, if it is, does anyone know what Tokai's build quality was like at that...

    Pink Goldstar

This guitar is all kinds of lovely. From a playability standpoint, the neck is truly sublime. Whereas my old '77 strat had a few dead spots (even after being professionally set-up) - the Tokai is lively and dynamic at every fret and on every string. It's set up with 10-46 gauge strings and...

    Pink Goldstar

Does anyone reckon that the saddles have been changed? Or did Tokai ever use non-Final Prospec saddles on their instruments? Forgive my ignorance, but would I be correct in assuming that this would be a copy of a '64 Fender (minus the lovely pink colour)?

    Pink Goldstar

As requested, here are the photos of the stamp at the bottom of the neck and of the back of the trem unit. http://www.roostamps.co.uk/tokai_4.jpg http://www.roostamps.co.uk/tokai_5.jpg Once again, many thanks for you help regarding the background to this lovely pink bit of Tokai goodness.

    Pink Goldstar

Thanks very much for your feedback. The colour of the Goldstar is indeed slightly metallic. Another Tokai guru has indicated that the company based this particular model on the strat that Gary Moore played around the 'Victims of the Future' era - an album that was apparently very popular in...

    Pink Goldstar

As I was not put off by the pink colour, I actually splurged out and bought the guitar privately. The inside cavity is indeed pink and the colour code has not been painted over. It is stamped: 2-6-MPY (at least I believe the last letter is a 'Y' as the stamp is slightly faded). The colour...
